Day 2 in Cartagena, Colombia. We try the infamous US fast food chain… but not the usual crap they serve in the US. A different sandwich I compared to in the US. The Clubhouse Double Carne (which is a double beef patty but I was not sure which size meat until I got it). The cost was 35,900 COP which at the time was $7.50 USD for this meal, plus it was a mall, so I’m sure it was higher than a standalone McDonald’s location.

The burger was okay. Standard premium McDonald sandwich. It kind of seemed structured like a Big-n-Tasty but different sauce. Seems like the pattie was more like quarter pounders (2 in the sandwich), crispy bacon, tomatoes, cheese, shredded lettuce, not sure on the sauce, it looked like a thousand islands sauce (big mac sauce) but it wasn’t as strong.

Down the walkway in the food court I got myself a naturally made mango smoothie for 9,900 COP, which at that time was around $2.30 USD. The cup was equivalent to a large smoothie served in most common fast food chains so this to me was a big savings because in the US smoothies are typically $6-$10 in the Northern PA and NYC areas. It was top notch quality too.

I wished I had more space to try even more food but that was it for tonight. It was a very lovely mall, Centro Comercial Mall Plaza. I could definitely revisit the mall to try even more food when I return to Cartagena. During Christmas it’s even more beautiful at night with a rooftop viewing Centro, with other restaurants on the roof too.
